Industry-Based Certifications Protocol
Purpose
The purpose is for the campus to have the most current and accurate data of Industry-Based Certifications (IBCs) earned by students in SKYWARD for Public School Accountability under College, Career, Military Readiness (CCMR).
Details
The process will include the steps needed for certifying students and coding certifications in the Student Information System (SKYWARD) and for reporting in the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS).
Steps
Certifying teacher understands all the requirements for the approved IBCs in the assigned program of study.
Teacher ensures the students are well prepared for the attainment of the IBC according to the curriculum provided. If a student fails an exam, the teacher must provide appropriate intervention and reteaching before the next attempt.
Teacher ensures the student's personal information is accurate in the certifying entity records.
Senior students may pursue the attainment of an IBC if they are a “Concentrator” or will receive the required credits before the end of the year. (Concentrator: A student who completes and passes two or more high school CTE courses for a total of at least two credits within the same Program of Study)
Teacher must keep on file appropriate IBC Documentation:
Copies of official certifications
Screenshots of the students listed in the certifying entity's official registry with their unique registration number
Copies of the official testing results, if required to keep on file by the certifying entity
Teacher reports IBCs attempted and earned within a week of the examination date. through the CTE Department’s IBC reporting system located at ibc.ljisdcte.com
The CTE Department verifies the accuracy and validity of all documentation received before it gets coded to SKYWARD.
